A “Hardcore” Performance in the Hydrogen Energy Race: Qingling Shares the Story Behind Its Reliability

Release time: 2026-06-03

Overview:

Shiyan, the “City of Cars,” is awash in the vibrant spirit of spring. The 2026 Commercial Vehicle Industry Development Conference has arrived as scheduled, and… At the “High-Level Symposium on the Development of Quality and Reliability in New-Energy Commercial Vehicles” held on the afternoon of March 26, Qingling Motors Ma Chongshan, Deputy General Manager of the Joint-Stock Company A sharing session brought a breath of fresh air to the venue. A speech titled “Laying a Solid Foundation for Reliability and Leading the New Hydrogen Energy Frontier” There are no esoteric theories—only the solid, steady footprints left along the way.

“Only reliable products can pave the way for the future of the hydrogen fuel cell industry.” This statement by Ma Chongshan is both Qingling’s guiding principle, forged through years of dedicated work in the hydrogen energy sector, and its straightforward response to the challenges of our times.

Qingling has been deeply engaged in the hydrogen‑energy sector for many years. From a pioneering leader to a formidable player, it has built up expertise through two rounds of technological upgrades and three generations of pre‑development. In collaboration with Bosch, its dedicated R&D team has mastered key technologies—including hydrogen fuel‑cell stack humidification and low‑temperature cold start—and achieved performance metrics that already meet the targets set in China’s 2030 technology roadmap.

Nowadays, Hydrogen fuel cell engines ranging from 75 kW to 300 kW, covering the full range from 4.5 tonnes to 49 tonnes. Hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles Qingling has established a comprehensive hydrogen‑energy product portfolio spanning light‑duty to heavy‑duty trucks.

However, true capability is never merely the data from a laboratory; it is, above all, the rigorous test of real‑world operations under all conditions. Ma Chongshan has eloquently demonstrated the reliability of Qingling’s hydrogen‑energy products through a series of concrete “battle‑tested” cases.

October, Qingling Hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck Braving the Tianshan Mountains, under extreme conditions—2,300 meters above sea level, temperatures as low as minus 43 degrees Celsius, and a grueling uphill stretch spanning over 200 kilometers—the vehicle completed a 900-kilometer traverse in just 13 hours, becoming the only hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck in China to conquer the Tianshan range.

2025

In April, the Western Land-Sea New Corridor’s hydrogen corridor was once again put to the test, carrying a full load of 49 tons over a round-trip distance of 2,600 kilometers in 35 hours, at a cost per kilometer of… Hydrogen consumption As low as 1.9 grams.

2025

At year’s end, the demonstration operation of coal transportation out of Xinjiang was launched, and Qingling’s hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks began to ply an even wider stage.
